Gynaecology Service in Marbella

Using Our Gynaecology Service To Support Your Pregnancy

24/02/2019

When you're expecting a baby, you'll need a new routine into your life: regular prenatal visits. As many other mothers will tell you, there are many exciting moments that these visits can provide. It's in these examinations that you'll learn your estimated due date and hear your baby's heartbeat for the first time. These pregnancy check-ups can be carried out at our luxury hospital in Marbella, as part of our gynaecology service. You'll receive plenty of nutrition and activity advice, explanations of what to expect during labour and delivery and often a series of tips on how to feed and care for your new arrival.

Recommended Schedule for a Healthy Pregnancy

For a healthy pregnancy, you will probably want to see your doctor on the following schedule:

Weeks 4 to 28: 1 prenatal visit each month

Weeks 28 to 36: 1 prenatal visit every 2 weeks

Weeks 36 to 40: 1 prenatal visit every week as your due date gets closer.

Many of these visits can be carried out at hospital as part of our gynecology service, so make sure you talk to your doctor to arrange these visits.

Make sure you stick to the schedule that your doctor suggests -- even when life gets hectic nearer your due date. Prenatal care is an important way of making sure both you and your baby are in good health.  With regular check-ups, your doctor will be able to spot any potential problems before they develop and make sure you're treated so that you can have the healthiest pregnancy possible.

Risk factors that may mean you need more visits
The schedule listed above isn't set in stone. If your doctor notices anything potentially troubling, you may be in need of more appointments as part of our gynaecology service. Your doctor will decide how often you need to plan these visits based on your individual health, meaning no two mothers are guaranteed the same prenatal schedule. In some cases, it may be that you need additional tests to ensure that both you and your baby stay as healthy as possible.

If you have any of the following risk factors, you may need to increase the number and frequency your prenatal visits:

- Being age 35 and older.

- Pre-existing health problems.

- Medical problems that develop during pregnancy.

- Risk of early labour.

During your prenatal visits, your doctor will check for any new complications that can occur after you've become pregnant. These may include preeclampsia and gestational diabetes. If you develop any of these health conditions, you may need to to see your doctor more often and may need to use our gynaecology service more regularly to monitor your blood pressure or diabetes and make sure any treatments are working effectively.

Not only can the prenatal appointments help monitor any potential risks to you and your baby, our gynaecology service can help make your pregnancy less hectic and more comfortable by giving you the opportunity to have your visits in the comfort of your own home.
